ABSTARCT                 The objective of this research was to study the effectiveness of mass selection methods based on weight of dried grain per plant and earlier harvesting to against the genetic gain of two basic different populations of sweet corn. In this research, the experiment was arranged according to Randomized Completely Block design with six replications. The observation of mass selection on weight  of dry seeds and on early-days-to-harverst on initial population and the population resulted from the sixth cycle of mass selection. The results of this research indicated that the mass selection of the initial population based on the weight of dry seeds was found to be effective for improvingweight of ears per plot  with a genetic gain of 1.33 kg or equivalent to 1.2 ton.ha; Mass selection based on early days-to-harvest on the population after subjected to six cyclus of selection was only effective for improving harvest earliness of the pouplation, with a genetic gain of -1.37 days.
