Abstract
Chicken farming plays an important role in meeting the demand for animal products and increasing community income. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of implementing environmental sanitation practices on chicken farming in the village of Dasan Lekong. This research used a descriptive and qualitative approach. The data used in this study include primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques were observation, interviews, and document analysis. Data analysis was performed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that: (a) Sanitation is implemented through cleaning cages and equipment, managing feces and feed scraps, and providing potable water from artesian wells and stored in 60-liter tanks; (b) Effluent management, odor and fly control, and disinfection are implemented, but were not fully planned or standardized. The factors driving these practices include producer awareness, water supply, sanitation facilities, and labor, while the factors inhibiting them include costs, equipment, personnel, and lack of technical knowledge. Therefore, strengthening hygiene management in a regular and integrated manner is necessary to achieve healthy, productive, and environmentally sustainable animal husbandry.
